Paul is an Associate Professor with the Department of Accounting, Monash Business School and has a broad range of research interests in management accounting and performance measurement specifically in cooperatives and mutuals and non-profit organisations. Paul is also the Director of the Mutual Value Lab established by the Monash Business School to build on their long term research collaboration with the Business Council of Cooperatives and Mutuals (BCCM) and the cooperative and mutuals sector in Australia. The Lab builds and extends their research collaboration with BCCM which has resulted in the development of a performance measurement framework, the Mutual Value Measurement (MVM) framework. This framework has now been commercialised with their industry partner, BCCM and taken up by cooperatives and mutuals in Australia, UK and USA. They are now engaged in a two year research collaboration with BCCM and the Australian government which is developing cooperatives in social care provision in remote and regional Australia. The MVM framework is being used to design these cooperatives and to measure their impact
