Reclaim Fund Ltd (RFL) is the operator of the Dormant Assets Scheme, making it possible for money in dormant building society and bank accounts to be used to fund social and environmental initiatives across the UK, whilst ensuring the right of account holders to reclaim account balances is upheld in perpetuity.
Actively operational since 2011, as part of its Main Scheme, RFL has received £1.4bn from building societies and banks who voluntarily participate and have distributed £800m to charity and social enterprises. Participation continues to gather momentum in the Alternative Scheme which exists for building societies and banks with balance sheets below £7bn to enable them to utilise their qualifying dormant accounts to support their favoured local and aligned charities.
