Max Shepherd

Max Shepherd is the Group Economist at Yorkshire Building Society, having joined the Society in 2023. He is responsible for economic forecasting, commentary and insight, and for ensuring the economic environment is embedded in strategic decision‑making across the Group.

In 2025, Max also assumed responsibility for the Wholesale Credit Risk team, leading financial and economic analysis to set, monitor and calibrate credit limits for domestic and international financial institutions.

Max began his career at Skipton Building Society in Treasury after graduating with a degree in Finance and Economics from Lancaster University, where he later qualified as a Chartered Accountant through ACCA.
