James is a Policy Manager at the Building Societies Association with a portfolio covering financial crime, security, cyber-resilience and protection and support for the vulnerable consumer. He is a director of the Joint Money Laundering Steering Group and was a founding Board member of the Joint Money Laundering Intelligence Taskforce UK. He has a particular interest in supporting customers living with poor mental health and is a member of the Mental Health Research Advisory Group as well as representing the financial services industry on the leadership group for the National Mental Capacity Forum and the steering groups for Brunel and Essex University projects on financial abuse.

Prior to joining the BSA in 2008, James spent 20 years at Nationwide initially in retail management and then in senior roles in project management, strategy development and change delivery.
