James is a Policy Manager at the Building Societies Association with a portfolio covering financial crime, security, cyber-resilience and protection / support for the vulnerable consumer. He has a particular interest in supporting customers living with poor mental health and as victims of financial abuse and is a member of the Mental Health Research Advisory Group as well as representing the financial services industry on the leadership group for the National Mental Capacity Forum and the steering group for Brunel University projects on financial abuse. He also a director of the Joint Money Laundering Steering Group and chair of trustees for the charity Advocacy after Fatal Domestic Abuse.

Prior to joining the BSA, James spent 20 years at Nationwide initially in retail management and then in senior roles in project management, strategy development and change delivery.
