Dr Dexter Penn is a UCL Clinical Academic in Neurology that has translated his experiences of caring for vulnerable patients in the NHS into a fintech solution called Kalgera. In 2017, Dr Penn founded Kalgera, a London based multi-award-winning RegTech that uses neuroscience and artificial intelligence to identify individuals at risk of financial abuse and other harms. Kalgera is an alumnus of the UCL and the National Cybersecurity Centre Innovation Programmes and has been featured in The Financial Times, Forbes, Wired and The Sunday Times. Dr Penn has contributed to public policy on financial vulnerability at the Financial Conduct Authority, No 10 Downing Street and also serves on the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Longevity.

Dr Penn is a Member of the Royal College of Physicians and holds a Master of Science Degree in Research Methods and Healthcare Quality from University College London (UCL). Dr Penn is a Fellow at the UCL Dementia Research Centre at the UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology, where he conducts research and delivers clinical care to people living with Alzheimer’s disease and rare forms of dementia. Dr Penn has published scholarly work on Young Onset Dementia as well as on mental capacity and decision-making.
