Colin Calder

Digital Building Limited

Following the announcement made by the Net Zero Banking Alliance in April 2021 Colin Calder and Katharine Harrison co-founded Digital Buildings Limited (DBL) and its wholly owned subsidiary Retrogreen Limited.

DBL provides specialist residential energy efficiency modelling and advisory services to mortgage providers, lenders and brokers while Retrogreen delivers more energy efficient homes for consumers. The founders have teamed up with TrustMark to provide homeowners and landlords with a new experience when designing and implementing their home improvement plan. Their state of the art SAP modelling software can create a digital replica of a home enabling lenders, homeowners and landlords to understand the costs, carbon impact and overall benefits of applying different energy efficiency measures – anything from Solar PV on the roof to underfloor heating with a heat pump. Their qualified employees guide consumers through every step of the journey from initial design, selection of tradespeople to project completion. Their services come with all the protections provided by a TrustMark Registered Business.

Prior to his latest venture Colin was the founder of PassivSystems and within 2 years the company had launched the worlds #1 smart thermostat. The product was listed in the 6 hottest products at CES 2010.

In 1996 Colin founded Paragon, a software company focused on synchronising data between mobile phones, desktop applications and web-based services, which he sold 40 months later for $550 million. In 1999 he was a winner of the prestigious EY Entrepreneur of the Year award. He has been or is a Fellow of the Energy Institute and an Advisory Board Member to UCL’s International Energy Institute. He was a founding member of Energy UK’s New Energy Services & Heat Committee.
