Alison Vipond is Sustainability Policy and Innovation Lead at Ecology Building Society. Ecology has a mission to build a greener society by harnessing the power of its members to create sustainable buildings and communities. Alison is responsible for ensuring Ecology continues to be ambitious and impactful, embedding the principles of sustainable development in all its activities, including business operations, products and services, member engagement and working with stakeholders. With a background in environmental research and policy, Alison is passionate about the role of finance to support positive change in society. Collaboration and innovation are at the heart of her role, enabling her to facilitate the co-development of Ecology’s ambitious 2030 Strategy. Current areas of focus include carbon accounting, impact assessment, climate risk and net zero. She co-chairs the UK Residential Lending Working Group of PCAF UK to improve carbon accounting methodologies, and represents Ecology in working groups of the UNEP FI Net Zero Banking Alliance.
