Director of Specialist Supervision

Alison Barker was appointed in December 2016 as Director of Specialist Supervision, within the Supervision Division of the Financial Conduct Authority. She has responsibility for the supervision of financial crime, including the Office for Professional Body AML Supervision, technology and cyber risk, client assets and resolution and the prudential supervision of 22,000 firms. Her division conducts specialist supervisory assessments and analysis. Prior to her current role, Ms Barker was the Head of the Infrastructure & Trading Firms Department, within the Supervision Division. The department brought together responsibility for the supervision of key market infrastructure such as Recognised Investment Exchanges, trading firms and commodity brokers, high frequency traders and specific supervisory regimes for LIBOR, other benchmarks and regulated covered bonds. Ms Barker joined the Financial Services Authority in 2009.
