About us

Representing mutual lenders and deposit takers in the UK.

The BSA Annual Conference is organised by the Building Societies Association, which represents mutual lenders and deposit takers across the UK including all the UK’s building societies.

We fulfil two key roles. We provide our members with information to help them run their businesses, and we represent their interests to audiences including the Financial Services Authority and other regulators, the government, parliament, the Bank of England, the media, other opinion formers and the general public.

Our members have total assets of over £365 billion, savings balances of over £245 billion and mortgage balances of almost £235 billion.
